The Feast of the Assumption

The Feast of the Assumption is one of the most ancient and widely celebrated commemorations of the Virgin Mary in the Christian tradition. Observed each year on August 15, the feast marks the belief that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken up body and soul into heaven at the end of her earthly life. While the exact origins of this belief are rooted in early Christian tradition rather than explicit biblical description, it has played a significant role in the devotional and liturgical life of the Church since the early centuries.
