The Feeding of the Five Thousand

The Feeding of the Five Thousand
The Feeding of the Five Thousand

The Feeding of the Five Thousand stands as one of the most widely recognized miracles in the New Testament and is the only miracle, apart from the Resurrection, recorded in all four Gospels—Matthew 14:13–21, Mark 6:30–44, Luke 9:10–17, and John 6:1–14. This event took place during the height of Jesus’ public ministry, near the Sea of Galilee, and illustrates a moment where divine provision met human need in a striking and memorable way. According to the Gospels, a great multitude had followed Jesus into a remote area, drawn by His teachings and the healings He had performed. As evening approached, the disciples became concerned about how to feed the large crowd, which the Gospels number at five thousand men, not including women and children.
