The Nails of the Crucifixion

The nails of the Crucifixion are among the most solemn and enduring symbols in Christian history. Though the Gospels do not describe the nails in detail, they are understood to have been the instruments by which Jesus Christ was affixed to the cross during His crucifixion under the Roman governor Pontius Pilate. Their presence is implied in the Gospel of John, when the resurrected Jesus invites Thomas to touch the wounds in His hands—evidence that the crucifixion involved nails and not only binding. The nails themselves, both as physical objects and as powerful symbols, have held deep significance across centuries of Christian tradition.
